Imagine the Possibilities!

IndyGo initiated a study in 2004 and it was reviewed again in 2006  to determine the location and operational feasibility of a Downtown Transit Center. The 2004 recommended site was no longer available, and in 2006 IndyGo re-evaluated potential locations.  View June 21, 2006 public meeting materials to learn more about possible sites, recommendations, and the positive impacts the transit center will bring to IndyGo operations.  >more information

A Transit Center has been a long-sought goal for downtown Indianapolis and the IndyGo bus system as a means to provide improved bus service and to increase ridership.

A transit center provides a centralized location to catch the bus or make a transfer.  It will also provide passenger amenities such as weather protection, route and schedule information, convenience retail and services, restrooms, and staffed passenger assistance.

Parking, a taxi stand, and proximity to long-range bus, rail and future rapid transit connections will allow people to move around the city and region seamlessly.

Ultimately improved bus service and increased ridership will allow the city to grow without increasing vehicular congestion and parking demand.
