PROJECT DESCRIPTION

It will connect with the planned Cumberland Pennsy Trail from German Church Road at the east border of Marion County, to the Pleasant Run Trail linking east-side neighborhoods with Garfield Park and ultimately with the White River.

The trail utilizes the abandoned Penn Central rail corridor parallel to US 40 / East Washington Street.

INDOT ASSISTANCE

The Indiana Department of Transportation constructed a tunnel through I-465 and left the Shadeland Avenue Bridge in place when the trail was abandoned, thereby supporting the trail conversion concept. [more]
