Parks, Recreation, & Open Space Master Plan

City of Evansville, Indiana/ Department of Parks & Recreation /April 2, 2003

 

Immediate Priorities identified as targets for accomplishment within the next five-years are summarized below:

  • to sustain the strong system of parks and facilities that are already in place and develop a higher level of maintenance

  • develop system connectivity through the continued development of a greenway network and consolidation of existing and adjacent park sites to achieve critical mass and image

  • strategic expansion of the park system with emphasis on serving the under-served areas within the Evansville City limits and the unincorporated areas of Vanderburgh County

  • renovation and upgrade of the neighborhood aquatic centers to balance resource demands and increase participation

  • general improvement recommendations to maintain quality facilities

  • maintain and expand sports programs and policies

  • maintain and expand special and recreations programs

  • maintain and improve the summer concert series and other cultural events

  • reorganize management structure for efficiency

  • public information and visibility

  • planning strategies
